façade
the social mask
Pronunciation: fuh·SAAD
Archetype: SCRYER
Purpose: To shield against the pressure to present a perfect image while concealing true emotions and struggles.
Personality: Façade is a dual-faced entity, symbolizing the tension between outward appearance and inner reality.
Guardian Role: Façade does not hide you—it gives you control over what is seen. It ensures that the mask you wear is one of choice, not necessity. It shields you from prying eyes, scrutiny you do not owe, and the expectation of constant exposure. It does not ask you to reveal yourself before you are ready or let you disappear entirely. You decide the truth you show, and that is enough.
How it Protects: Façade does not build walls—it grants passage through them. It ensures that you remain unseen when you need to be but never truly disappear. It filters perception, shielding you from scrutiny while allowing you to control what is revealed. It reminds you that performance is survival, but survival does not have to mean deception. It gives you permission to be both known and unknown—on your own terms.
ORIGIN story
In the glittering remnants of a desolate Hollywoodland, where the stars have long since faded and the lights have gone out, of course Façade emerged from the crumbling sets and empty studios. This city, once the epicentre of cheap glamour and image, now lies in ruin, its once-bright facades cracked and peeling to reveal the emptiness behind.
Facade’s mentors were the broken mirrors of old dressing rooms, the faded posters of long-forgotten stars, and the abandoned red carpets that once heralded the arrival of fame. From these, Facade learned the art of maintaining an image, even when the reality behind it is anything but glamorous. They embody the tension between the persona we show the world and the truth we hide, a reflection of the superficiality that once defined Hollywood.
Facade’s skill is in their ability to craft and maintain these social masks, to keep up appearances even when everything else falls apart. They do so with a biting humor, aware that it’s all a performance, but one that everyone feels compelled to participate in. Facade is a reminder of the fragility of our social constructs and the absurdity of the roles we play.
